The concept of Lecture Capture, regarding the use of visuals such as chalk/white board usage, has been thoroughly discussed.
The primary use of Lecture Capture, at most institutions, has been to provide supplemental review material for the student.
- If the student attended class, took notes from the chalk/whiteboard, but wanted to review the lecture audio, if the audio was recorded, it’s possible.
- Students who have an excused absence, like the student-athlete, can still get written notes from their classmates, and be able to review the audio lecture in totality.
- Where slides are used, the audio and the slides are synchronized and the text on the slides are searchable.
